Being able to blog and experience so many different things in a strange and foreign country is something that I don’t think that I will soon forget. I have had the opportunity to try something new today, and I think it will make today’s article interesting because I will be able to compare the difference between what I experienced here in Slovakia and what I am used to back in California. With that said, read on to find out!
Alright with that out of the way, I can get on with my day. I planned to visit an interesting broken down wall today, but I did not find the time. A seed was planted in my mind, and it started to grow throughout the day and I was hooked on it. I wrote down my ideas for said idea, and I am really considering doing it. You might be wondering, what kind of idea might I be talking about? Well I was considering starting a weekly/bi-weekly podcast, where I would talk about things like: struggles of traveling on exchange, culture shock from various countries and more. I would like to talk about it more, but I don’t really want to put too much out there until I commit myself. Would anyone listen, or is just a blog post instead sufficient?
Anyway, this evening I went to the movies, and it was an interesting experience. I went to go see the new Kingsman movie that had recently came out, half because I wanted to see the movie, and half because I was curious what the differences between a Slovak theater and an American theater might be. What surprised me the most, was the cost. I guess the American idea of charge an arm and a leg for popcorn and a drink hasn’t quite hit Slovakia, so in total my entire night out cost me only $11.16. And that was me buying a ticket ($7.64), popcorn, and a drink. I even got to choose my seat beforehand. In total the experience was fantastic, cheap, and a great way to spend the evening.
I don’t have much to write about today, so I thought I might discuss something that has been bothering me slightly. When I go to write my blog post, I put music on, turn the lights off, and just let my fingers fly. But when I am tired, I sometimes get completely disoriented with where I am. It really only lasts like 10-20 seconds, but for that brief moment I cannot remember where I am and it kind of freaks me out. This has happened on multiple occasions, and not only when I am writing. It has happened when I am laying in bed, or tonight as I was walking home. I think the cause of this has been the constant change in my life in the past few months, my mind just hasn’t quite adjusted to it. First I was kicked out of my own room, forced to stay in my guest bedroom at my house in California. Then I went to Michigan, staying in multiple different rooms in different places. Then I go to Texas for a few weeks and sleep on a couch (I must note that the same routine occured when I was writing my blog in Texas as I had stated before). And then back to my home in California, where I staying in the guest bedroom for a month or so. And now I am here. I don’t quite know what to do about it, as it mostly happens when I am tired or really focused on my blog. Either way I will have to be conscious about where I am, and remind myself that this is my home now.
Anyway, I am tired, and I need to wrap this up. Today’s word of the day is
Sloboda – Freedom
Pronounced the same in English, this is something that I value very highly
All of these pictures were taken on a Sony A6000. If you are looking for a great lightweight camera that takes fantastic pictures, I would definitively recommend this setup here.
