Slovakia Day 45 – Where are we going??

I am going to try and keep this short today, mostly because I want to go and watch a movie before I have to go to bed tonight. But, today was very… Interesting. I am not really sure what happened to be perfectly honest. Let me explain.

Wait where??

I woke up this morning, got my PE clothes together, and as I was heading out of the house I check my phone. When I look on it, I see a message from one of my classmates, it reads as such:

“HI, I don’t know if you know, but today we are going to the trip. Our class will meet at 8:30 at the small train station. I hope, so we will see there.”

Now I was very confused. Beforehand, I had some inkling of an idea when and where we would be going on our excursions. However, today I was completely lost. That being said, I must said that I was rather happy about it, because I certainly was not in the mood for PE. When I inquired further about what we would be doing, I got these two pieces of information, which would actually prove to be useless. Firstly, he told me that we would be going to the “monument”. Secondly, he told me that we would be going to the “observatory”. I soon would find that neither of these things would make any difference.

Now, I thought that my thought process was fairly reasonable, but it would be fairly frustrating down the line. We would be meeting at a train station, so I did not think that we would be doing anything more than maybe walking down a road. When I arrived at the train station, I looked around me and everyone was wearing hiking shoes and running shoes. I look down at my feet and I am wearing some nice adidas. Now I must note: if you remember this post here that I made last Saturday, I went and hiked in the mountains for a little bit. Guess where the trailhead starts? Right next to the train station. Long story short, we would be walking up the trail to go… Somewhere. And I was wearing my nice adidas. (I am complaining a lot, but don’t worry, it wasn’t too bad).

We only really walked for about 15 minutes, where we stopped in a nice big field. At that point, we split into our different classes and started a rotation of these different stations. Each station was supposed to teach us something unique, such as what plants not to touch, or when to do CPR. Why we had to walk out into the middle of a field in freezing weather to do this is beyond me. But, I didn’t have to go to school today so that was a plus. While I was up there, I was getting more “American” questions that usual, and it put me in a very red, white, and blue mood. I told my classmates that I would bring them everything American tomorrow for them to enjoy. I might take pictures and see how that goes, and if you have any suggestions for what I should bring them/try to do with them, please comment.

That’s all for me today, not quite short, but sometimes I just let my fingers fly! Today’s word of the day is:

vĂ½mena – exchange

Pronounced like vymenya (I think), this is my 45 day on exchange here in Slovakia!
